Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

The World of Outlaw Late Models and Sprint car series have announced its 2010 schedules, and they appear very similar to this past season.

Of course, Donny Schatz will be going into 2010 looking for a fifth straight 410 Sprint car championship and will have about 80 races to get the job done.

The WoO season begins at Volusia Speedway Park on February 5 and will see three straight nights of action at VSP. The Outlaws have six race dates again at Williams Grove Speedway, including the $50,000 to win National Open. Other venues on the schedule include Virginia Motor Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, Tri City Speedway, Knoxville Raceway and many more.

Over on the late model side, Josh Richards will be looking to defend his first career championship next season as well. The Late Models will have 50 races on its schedule, including local stops at Hagerstown Speedway, Virginia Motor Speedway, Delaware International Speedway, Bedford Speedway, Central PA Speedway and Grandview Speedway. Of course, the Outlaws have many other stops including Charlotte Motor Speedway, Tri City, a series in Canada and much more.

Steve Kinser has joined Tony Stewart Motorsports for the 2010 season and will pilot the Bass Pro Shops No. 20 Sprint car next season. Kinser replaces his son, Kraig, in the car. Kraig will move over to the Steve Kinser Racing No. 11K next season. So that could make for a very interesting year with Schatz and Kinser as teammates.

As we are just a few weeks from ending 2009 and heading into a new year, I’d like to wish all of my readers a very safe and happy holiday season. This will be the final column until after the New Year, so until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
