Jesse B. Armstrong
Jesse Buffington Armstrong, 80, McConnellsburg, died Thursday, December 10, 2009, in the Long-Term Care Unit at Fulton County Medical Center.
He was born June 12, 1929, in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Anna Mae and Dale Armstrong, the brother of the late Charlotte Allnutt and stepbrother of the late Harry and Burnett Newman.
He was a graduate of Mount Rainier High School, Class of 1947, where he met his future wife, Elaine. They were married for 58 years.
During his school and working years, he served in the National Guard and was employed by the C&P Telephone Co. of Maryland for 27 years.
After early retirement from the telephone company, he and his wife moved from Riverdale, Md., to McConnellsburg, where he enjoyed retirement life living on his five-acre “Ponderosa.”
He is survived by his wife, Elaine D. (Barbier) Armstrong; three sons and a daughter: Roger A. and wife Theresa (Terry), Crownsville, Md.; Gary R., Upper Marlboro, Md.; Carol M. Hensley and husband William (Loyde), Odenton, Md.; Larry D. and wife Delores (Karen), Hollywood, Md.; and nine grandchildren: Shawn M., Brandon P., Melissa A., Cory D., Kyle M., Cody S., Jesse P., Gino N., and Courtney E. Blank.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, McConnellsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the FCMC Auxiliary, 214 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
