Shuster Secures $4 Million For The Flight 93 Memorial
Congressman Bill Shuster is pleased to announce that he has successfully secured $4 million in additional funding for the completion of the permanent Flight 93 Memorial.
“This $4 million represents another important step in the process of completing the Flight 93 Memorial and reasserts the federal government’s commitment to honoring the memory of the passengers and crew of Flight 93 and all Americans impacted by the events of September 11th,” Shuster said. “I am pleased to have been able to secure this funding with the support of my colleagues in the House and the Families of Flight 93.”
The funding secured by Shuster will be used to pay for the federal share of the infrastructure needs to accomplish critical phases of the construction of the memorial as described and approved in the park’s General Management Plan.
“We are grateful for the tremendous leadership of Representative Shuster, as well as Representative Murtha and the Pennsylvania delegation, in securing $4 million in FY 2010 transportation funding for the Flight 93 National Memorial’s infrastructure needs,” said Gordon Felt, President, Families of Flight 93. “This effort is a critical step forward in meeting our solemn commitment to dedicate the Flight 93 National Memorial on the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.”
