Building Demolition Under Way

Demolition of the COPE building along North Second Street, which once housed the county Services for Children staff, got under way Monday as part of the county's renovation and upgrades project. The facility, along with the former Shearer and Bivens properties, is being torn down to provide the county campus with additional parking space for employees and visitors. Coincidentally, the building is also one of the 142 buildings listed in the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Register of Historic Places as contributing to the character of McConnellsburg's historic district.
