SF To Present Christmas Concert

Southern Fulton High School instrumental music department will present its Christmas concert on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The concert will feature sixth-grade band, junior high band, senior high band and jazz band under the direction of Benjamin Arnold.

Junior high and senior high band are curricular courses that rehearse during the school day. Sixth-grade band also rehearses during the school day. Jazz band is an extracurricular activity of junior high and senior high band students that rehearses once a week before school.

The bands will perform holidays standards, “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bell Rock,” “Up On The Housetop,” “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, “And several other familiar holiday tunes. The song “Deck the Halls With Chips and Salsa” is a Latin-style arrangement of the familiar tune “Deck the Halls,” which will be performed by junior high band. “The Runaway Sleigh” is about a sleigh ride that gets faster and faster and almost out of control performed by junior high band. “Christmas Time with Charlie Brown” features many familiar tunes from the classic “Charlie Brown’s Christmas” performed by senior high band.

The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate the holiday season with these talented students.

Admission to the concert is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Proceeds benefit the band activity fund. Arnold and the bands wish to thank the community for its continued support.
