By Kate Berkstresser

Mother Nature treated us with a little sample of white stuff to let us know winter is approaching. It is not nice for travel but makes for beautiful scenery.

We extend our sympathy to the family and relatives of Ed Welsh, who passed away last week.

Harvey and Pat Berkstresser attended the funeral of her nephew in Ohio on Saturday.

Belated happy birthday wishes to Caitlin Black, December 1; Sadie Creager, December 3; David Boyer, December 5; and Breden Kylor on December 12.

Hustontown Fire Co. will welcome Santa Claus December 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Santa will give treats to children 10 years old and younger from the Forbes Road School District.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a regular shooting match again on Saturday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. First- and second-place prizes will be awarded. The fire company will also hold a food auction on Friday, December 11; at 6:00 p.m. Food items and miscellaneous items will be fore sale. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. A nice place to enjoy an evening.

Household hint: Make your yard look lived in. Arrange to have mail and newspaper delivery halted while on vacation to avoid advertising that no one is home. Get a neighbor to mow lawn. If travel takes you away in snowy winter, have someone shovel walk or driveway or at least make tracks to and from your house.
