The second annual Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek released the schedule for 2010 so fans and teams can make early preparations for the big event.
A big success in 2009 that saw Josh Richards score the overall series championship, the speed week series will be back again next season and will kick off on Saturday, June 5 at Hagerstown Speedway followed by consecutive nights of racing at Selinsgrove, Winchester, Williams Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal and ending at Bedford on Friday, June 11th.
Each race will feature a 40-lap $5,000 to win A-Main but Winchester will be a 50 lap event. Shearer Custom Speed will sponsor the time trials while Keizer Aluminum Wheels sponsor heat races.
Late model star Scott Bloomquist was found to be illegal at the recent World Finals at the Dirt Track at Lowes Motor Speedway. Following Thursday night time trials, the left rear tire on Bloomquist’s car was confiscated and deemed to have a foreign substance that is not allowed under World of Outlaw rules. Bloomquist had to forfeit his weekend winnings, which included a victory on Friday night at the track. A fine equaling his weekend winnings that totaled $11,350 that must be paid before he enters a WoO scheduled event and a suspension from the WoO until May 5, 2010. Bloomquist may appeal.
The annual Motorsports 2010 presented by Streetblaze 100 race car and trade show is just around the corner on January 22-24 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center located in Oaks, PA.
Some of the “stars” already signed to make appearances at the show are Kasey Kahne, Marcos Ambrose, former NASCAR star Bobby Allison, NASCAR crew chief Frankie Kerr, and World of Outlaws sprint driver Danny Lasoski.
