Franklin I. Geist Sr.
Born July 26, 1922, in Kulpmont, Pa., he was the son of the late John L. and Millie Brown Geist and the husband of the late Gladys Emmaline Snyder Geist, who died July 20, 1994.
He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was retired superintendent of schools for the Southern Fulton School District.
He was a member of the National Principal Association and a member of the Pennsylvania School Superintendent Association.
He was a member of Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are four sons: John Geist, Hancock; Franklyn Geist Jr., York Springs, Pa.; Greg Geist, Danville, Pa.; Glenn Geist, Warfordsburg; a sister, Jean Wysocki, Danville, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Geist, and two sisters: Chloe Becker and Anna Barreck.
Services will be held Friday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m., at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church. Pastor Edward Blank will officiate. Burial with military graveside honors will be by Tri-State Honor Guard in the church cemetery.
There will be a viewing at Warfodrsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center on Thursday, December 3, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the center. Also the family will receive friends and family on Friday at the church between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Warfordsburg Presbyterian Faith Center, c/o Dianna Kincaid, 6251 Thompson Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
