Pa. Firefighter’s Home, Cars Destroyed By Flames

MOUNTAINTOP, Pa. (AP) – A northeastern Pennsylvania firefighter lost his own home to a blaze while he and his family were out of the state.

Colleagues of Wright Township firefighter Chris Krout were unable to save his house after flames broke out Friday. Krout says he doesn’t yet know the cause of the fire.

Krout says he was traveling to North Carolina with his wife and two children when a fellow firefighter called to tell him about the blaze.

The flames destroyed Krout’s house, three vehicles and a camper. The family had lived there about 10 years.

Krout says he has always commiserated with people who have lost everything to a fire. He says to be actually living through it himself can’t be described in words.
