Officer Gunned Down In Wash. State Was Pa. Native
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) – One of the four police officers gunned down Sunday morning inside a Washington state coffee shop was a native of eastern Pennsylvania.
Lakewood Sgt. Mark Renninger graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem in 1989. He leaves behind a wife and three children, as well as four brothers and a sister.
His brother, Matt Renninger, released a statement calling the slain officer “a professional, dedicated police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice. More importantly, he was a loving, devoted father, husband and family member and will be missed by many.”
Police say a 37-year-old man with a long rap sheet killed the officers as they did paperwork at a coffee shop about 35 miles from Seattle.
