Forbes Road Donates To Semper Fi Fund

Mike and Nancy Szwydek (left) accept a check for $1,600 from Angie Booth as a donation from Forbes Road students to the Semper Fi Memorial Fund. The money represents the proceeds from a spaghetti supper held November 7 organized by Ruth Knepper and held at the Center United Methodist Church and cosponsored by the Clear Ridge UMC. The Semper Fi Memorial Fund was established to teach high school students about the price of freedom by taking them on field trips to Arlington National Cemetery and Washington, D.C. The fund was created in 2006 in memory of Steven Szwydek, who was killed in 2005 while serving as a U.S. Marine in Iraq.
