Youth Fair Items Several items were left behind at the youth building after the fair – clay pots, placemats, sculpture. Items are now at the extension office. They will be kept until December 31.
Animal Shelter Donations Donations for Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter are being accepted at Morton’s Attic, 226 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, during the month of December. The CVAS are in great need of laundry detergent, bleach and trash bags. Also accepted are towels, washcloths, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, mattress pads, cleaning supplies (paper towels, buckets, brushes, window cleaner, etc.), tarps, office supplies (envelopes, stamps, etc.), dog harnesses, first aid items, cat and kitten food, dog and puppy food, pet shampoo and conditioner, dog and cat toys, treats, instant rice, baby food (lamb and veal), aluminum cans and “Paws” to recycle. Monetary donations are always welcomed and checks should be made out to CVAS. Morton’s is open daily Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Wednesday. Gingerbread House Contest A Child’s “Make and Take” Ginger Bread House Contest, for children ages 4 to 12 years will be held Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Fulton Theatre. Each child will be provided with a small gingerbread house and decoration supplies. Entries for each age group will be judged at 1 p.m. Winners of each category will be displayed at the newly renovated Fulton County Library. There is no admission fee, but donations will be accepted. Register at Fulton County Center for Families, any of the Fulton County libraries, Southern Fulton Elementary School office, McConnellsburg Elementary School office, or e-mail the child’s name, age and phone number to Syoungblood@sakindness.org. To ensure enough supplies for all participants, preregistration is strongly encouraged. Sponsored by Simple Act of Kindness, a community out-reach program of Christian Social Services.
Toy/Winterwear Drive Odd Fellows Lodge #773, New Grenada is conducting a toy/winter wear drive for local, needy children. Drop off boxes are located at The Fulton County News office and post offices in Hustontown, Waterfall and Wells Tannery. All toys, gloves, hats and scarves must be new and have original tags or be in original packaging. Items will be accepted through December 8.
Book And Bake Sale A book and bake sale will be held at Fulton County Library Friday, December 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items $2 per bag. Stop by for some great deals and help support your library.
Treasures For Kids Treasures For Kids is a Christmas program conductd by Fulton County Catholic Mission in partnership with Fulton County Services for Children and Advisory Board and the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Support Group Fulton County Center for Families is organizing a support group for parents of children with special needs. The group will meet at the Head Start building in McConnellsburg December 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in attending but day and time or location does not fit into schedule, please call and something will be worked out. Used Book Drive Forbes Road field hockey teams are now accepting used books, magazines, movies, music and puzzles. Collection boxes have been placed in area businesses for these used items to be dropped off. The used book sale will take place in the Forbes Road cafeteria on Friday, December 4, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 5, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. In addition there will be a bake sale at those times.
