Robert V. Thompson, 80, Hancock, Md., died Friday, November 13, 2009, at his home.

Born September 25, 1929, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Emory and Pearl Mitchell Thompson.

He was retired from Mack Truck as a machinery operator.

He was a member of the UAW local Hagerstown.

He was a member of Hancock Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ora Mae Hovermale Thompson, whom he married September 18, 1949, in Clear Spring, Md.; five daughters: Nancy Rinard and Patricia Woodal, both of Hancock; Jane Sarricchio, Dayton, Fla.; Connie Malekar, Great Cacapon, W.Va.; Susan Bennett, Mercersburg; three sons: Terry Thompson, Leetown, Mo.; Mark Thompson, Hopewell; and Timothy Thompson, Hancock; 15 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Services were held Monday, November 16, at 11:00 a.m., at Hancock Assembly of God. Pastor Don Preston and Pastor Robert Smith officiated. Burial was made in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Needmore.
