FR Lions Club Holds Poster Contest
The annual Forbes Road Lions Club peace poster contest has been completed. Ashley Leis, a sixth grade student at Forbes Road Elementary, is this year’s winner. Her poster is among more than 350,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 22nd annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. The club awarded Ashley $75 for first place. Second-place winner Tiffany Seville, received $50 and Dustin Stoey received $25 for third place. Each of the other 28 Forbes Road Elementary sixth-grade students received $5 for participating.
Forbes Road Lions Club President Chalmer Mellott said he was impressed by the expression and creativity of the students at Forbes Elementary. “It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. I’m so proud that we are able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”
Thanks to all students who participated; to Mrs. Black, Forbes Road art teacher; Mr. Helsel, Forbes Road Elementary principal; the sixth-grade teachers; and other staff members for their cooperation in this project.
