Work Completed On District Wide Bridge Painting Project

Contract funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

PennDOT District 9 announced last week that the work on the district-wide bridge painting contract that was financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has been completed.

Work has concluded on the $4,389,810 contract to preserve 20 bridges throughout the sixcounty district by performing abrasive blast cleaning and painting the existing steel superstructure using a three-coat paint system. This work was performed by Hercules Painting Co. Inc. of New Castle, Lawrence County.

Within District 9’s six-counties, PennDOT will invest more than $47 million of federal economic recovery funds on 19 transportation projects, which include road and bridge improvements and traffic signal upgrades.
