Harrisburg Post Office Is For Sale
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – The post office in Harrisburg that once coordinated all of the region’s mail service is for sale.
Harrisburg Mayor Stephen Reed said he envisions a mixeduse facility on the property, possibly including a hotel, retail space and parking.
The 237,000-square-foot post office was built in the early 1960s, replacing the Reading Co. passenger terminal and freight stations that used to occupy the 15- acre site.
The tax-exempt site was among several that have been considered by the General Services Administration for a new federal court house.
Harrisburg University also expressed interest in the property several years ago. The asking price for the property wasn’t released.
