Cards Of Thanks

The Liberty Crouse family would like to thank the following people and organizations for the kindness shown during her illness:

The businesses that allowed “The Liberty Crouse Fund” jars to be placed throughout the county and their patrons for their donations, JLG Industries and Mike’s co-workers who donated vacation time for Mike to be with his family, Fulton County Little League for the cards and donations, Kindred Spirits, Green Hill Sewing Club and Max McQuade for the auction held for Liberty and to the individuals and businesses that donated items for the auction, the individuals who contacted churches to have prayer for Liberty and to all of the churches for their prayers and donations, Mrs. Kathy Kendall, McConnellsburg Alumni, Alliance and the volunteers who organized the benefit dance, Lisa Fischer and the sorority for the basket bingo that helped raised funds, the Palmers for their donation to the family and Dana Signs for donating T-shirts.

Liberty would also like to thank her Grammy and Pappy Junie for all the time spent at the hospital.

Thank you to everyone who has in some way donated their time, money, sent a card, volunteered to help or even just “spread the word.” Thank you seems like such a small phrase for all everyone has done. Words really cannot express what has been one to help our family while Liberty fights this battle. Without people knowing and caring enough to help, these donations would not be possible. For everyone who has in any way contributed, please know that all of your efforts are appreciated and that no kind deed goes unreturned. The Bible reads “to love your neighbor as yourself.” (James 2:8). It is truly a blessing to have neighbors who will do what has been done in this county and a blessing to know how much everyone cares by the love they show.

May God bless you all.

Mike, Mary, Garrison,

Liberty and Emily Crouse

In September and November 2009 the American Red Cross held blood drives at the American Legion in McConnellsburg. Two local businesses provided refreshments for the donors.

The volunteers wish to thank Jason Ritchey at Lincoln Way Pizza for his contribution to September’s drive and K&S Auto and Cycle for its contribution to November’s drive.

On behalf of the Semper Fi Memorial the family of LCpl. Steven Szwydek would like to express their sincere gratitude for the efforts made by the Center and Clear Ridge United Methodist churches to raise funds for county students to travel to Arlington. A special thankyou goes to Ruth Knepper for initiating this fundraiser and Angie Booth for assisting in preparations.

This fund was established in 2006 following the death of LCpl. Szwydek in Iraq. For the last four years, students have been able to experience the cost of freedom by visiting Arlington and the Washington, D.C., area. Due to mismanagement or poor management of the memorial fund by the Szwydek’s financial advisor, the fund was depleted. This effort will help to re-establish this worthwhile project for our county schools.

Anyone wishing to make donations may send them to F&M Trust, Warfordsburg Branch, at 560 Great Cove Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. All donations are tax deductible.

With sincere gratitude, Mike and Nancy Szwydek
