     In an impressive 36-0 shut out of the Fairfield Knights Saturday afternoon at SSVC field in Scotland, these Fulton County kids advance one step closer to the KYFL championship game. The Rockets employed a smothering, hard hitting defense, and a straight ahead “no frills” offense to score the shutout.

      Indian Valley 9, Forbes Road 0 A strong offensive attack by Indian Valley last Thursday afternoon resulted in nine unanswered goals during the semifinal game of District 6-AA playoffs against Forbes Road. The Cardinals’ 9-0 loss closed out the team’s record at 8-10. Goalie Jess Gearhart blocked 13 shots for the Lady Cardinals.

      Northern Bedford 3, McConnellsburg 2 A shootout decided last Thursday’s District 5-AA quarterfinal match between Northern Bedford and McConnellsburg. During the Panthers 3-2 win over the Spartans, Casey Pollock tallied two goals. Nikki Mc- Quade added an assist. Goalie Sam McQuade rallied for 13 saves in goal.

      The 2009 racing season in Central PA came to an end Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, which had its finale for its Saturday Night Series. With a rare Friday night event for the normal Saturday night divisions, Frankie Herr and 2009 champion Carmen Perigo Jr. split the Twin 20s for Super Sportsman.

Franklin Financial Reports Quarterly Earnings
      Franklin Financial Services Corp., the bank holding company of F&M Trust Co., reported earnings of $1,083,000 for the quarter ended September 30, 2009. This compares to earnings of $2,612,000 for the quarter ended September 30, 2008, and brings net income for the first nine months of 2009 to $4,822,000, compared with $7,594,000 for the same period in 2008, a decline of 36.5 percent.

     Peckies Auto Body women’s softball team was named the Huntingdon County Women’s League champions with a record of 14-2 and also the Tri-County League chamipons with a record of 15-3. They placed second in the Run Jan Run Tournament with 30 teams competing.
