Senior Citizens Enjoy Bowling
Today was going to be an exciting day for the Warfordsburg Senior Center. The seniors were hosting the Juniata Valley seniors for a Wii bowling rematch. On September 18, the Warfordsburg seniors went to the Juniata Valley senior center for their first Wii bowling tournament, which ended in a loss of 80 pens. The Warfordsburg team won the crying towel for its trophy. For this tournament, Bob McDonald made a special traveling trophy for the winner. The Warfordsburg seniors arrived early and did some exercises to help strengthen their muscles for bowling. Refreshments of cheese and crackers, deer bologna, beer bologna, Danish and coffee were set up to welcome the Juniata team. The team arrived around 9:45 a.m. and the game began.
The first game was between Cindy Rinker, manager, and Betty Smith from Warfordsburg against Jean McElwain and Marie Bumbarger from Juniata. Juniata won the first game with a score of 359 to 310 pens. Next was Ralph and Mary Lambert, Warfordsburg, against Dee McCauley and Fay Mitchell, Juniata. Again, Juniata won this game. The score was 353 Juniata and 323, Warfordsburg. Dee Mc- Cauley had the high game of 216. Game three was Betty Everts and Virginia McDonald, Warfordsburg, against Sherry Mitchell and David Davis, Juniata. Another win for Juniata. The score was Warfordsburg 275, Juniata 361. David Davis had the second high game of 204. The fourth game players were Donald Hill and Tim Baden, Warfordsburg, and Sam Bagshaw and Shirley Scott, Juniata. Again, another loss for the Warfordsburg team. This score was Warfordsburg 331 to Juniata’s 375. This was the high set for the day. Game five was Pearl Russakoff and Doris Bain, Warfordsburg, and Moe Seager and Sis Wargo, Juniata. Warfordsburg won one! The score was Warfordsburg 336 to Juniata’s 269. The last game was played by the Warfordsburg team of Bob McDonald and Chris Gorsuch and for Juniata’s team, Bob Wargo and Norm Bumbarger. Juniata won this one also, with a score of 293 and Warfordsburg 277. Juniata’s seniors beat the Warfordsburg seniors by 158 pens. Juniata presented our seniors with a “boo hoo” plaque for the crying towel wall. Bob McDonald present Juniata with a traveling trophy for the winners. Until our next match with Juniata, we have to consider ourselves the biggest losers.
