Coroner Says Hunter’s Death An Accident
WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) – A deputy coroner says a hunter died in southwestern Pennsylvania when he slipped on a log and shot himself in the chest.
Greene County Deputy Coroner Mary Lewis says an autopsy and other information gathered by state police have confirmed that 53-year-old Mark Petrun, of Smithfield, died while squirrel hunting on Oct. 26.
State police and Petrun’s family discovered his body in a wooded area of Whiteley Township after he failed to return from hunting. The township is about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.
