The Grace Methodist Church of Hustontown held its harvest party and hay ride on Friday night at Leon and Patty Mellott’s of Needmore.

Folks gathered on Thursday night to hear the Jacobs Brothers sing at Laurel Ridge Christian Church. Wonderful music was heard.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Frank Martz, who passed away last week.

The FOVA held a Halloween dance on Saturday night for members

and guests. It was very well attended. Thanks to local businesses: Primitive Corner, McLaughlin’s Drug Store, Yocum’s Beverage, Mamma’s Pizza, Rhonda Weller, Harriet Warsing for all their support.

The Eagles Club in Harrisonville held a Halloween party for the children on Saturday.

Marian Park is now a resident in Fulton County Medical Center Long-Term Care Unit.

Marian “Skip” Carbaugh is home recuperating after spending some time in Chambersburg Hospital due to breaking her hip.

Aaron Ott of Colorado visited with his parents, Elen Ott and Mitch Ott and other relatives recently.

Mariah Truax spent a few days last week attending the Youth Challenge in West Harrison, Ind.

St. Paul Lutheran Church had a hayride on Sunday at Bill and Audrey Hall’s, with refreshments following at the community building.

A birthday party was held recenlty for Kaitlyn Siko to celebrate her fifth birthday. She has an older sister, Keristin, and is the daughter of Donnie and Julia Siko.

Fulton County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit rsidents and staff helped celebrate Edna Keebaugh’s 90th birthday recently.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Dillen Burger, Forbes Road soccer; A’Leese Dickerson, McConnellsburg volleyball; Sam McQuade, McConnellsburg soccer; Jenna Hollenshead, Southern Fulton cross-country; J.C. Munson, Southern Fulton cross-country and Briar Kirk, Southern Fulton soccer.

McConnellsburg Middle School held its seventh play day hay day on Friday, October 30 which included a cross country race, a luncheon and a dance in the gym and other enjoyable activities. The event was under the direction of Kathy Kendall and other volunteers.

The McConnellsburg Class of 1979 held its 30th reunion on Satuday at Great Cove Golf Club.

It hapened this week: In 1979 former first lady Mamie Eisenhower died in Washington, D.C., at age 82.

Country shortcuts: When you’re cooking something greasy, fat often splashes onto the rest of the stove. To cut down cleanup time, lay an overturned baking sheet over the burners next to the pan. It will catch most of the grease and the burners will be fat free.
