Birthday wishes this week to Cole Campbell, Chetty Clark, Amy Horton, Shirley Shoemaker, Loreli Fleming, Traci Greenland, Cameron Edgell, Brendan Lupey, Steve Brown, Mylee Mitchell, Barney Wilt, Brooke Taylor, Casey Jaymes, Bob Anderson, Shane Mills and Amanda Allison.

Anniversary wishes to Kevin and Jen Swope, Ralph and Erma Brown, W.R. and Beth Barmont, and Dwight and Barb Swope.

Get well wishes to Shirley Henry, Ryan Fleck, Ruth Memmie, Nathan Keebaugh, Mary Mort, Dick Rhoades, Tom and Linda McMath, and Patti Grissinger.

Philip and Paula Snyder and family, Buzz and Bea Covert, Fred and Sharon Horne, Travis Madden and Andy, Tasha and Kean Goshorn, along with lots of family and friends, enjoyed the Pee Wee Football game at Southern Huntingdon County High School under the lights on Saturday evening. Shaine Goshorn is a proud member of his winning team.

Buzz and Bea hosted lunch on Sunday for Travis Madden, Angie Roher and Andy, Tasha, Shaine and Kean Goshorn.

Lydia Souders recently traveled to Las Vegas to visit her cousin, Valerie Zittle. They enjoyed touring the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon and the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Lydia then traveled on to San Diego to visit her friend, Karen Goshorn. She returned to Maddensville to visit with family before her return trip to North Carolina to work.

Betty Ramsey, Kim and Ed Stevens, and Joe, Melanie, Cody and Dison Myers spent this past weekend in Pittsburgh attending the wedding reception of Eric and Hilary Forslund Costello and doing some shopping.

Shooting matches will be held every Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hustontown Firehall until further notice. This year, a five-round shoot for youths will be held after the regular shoot. Shooters must be 16 years and under to participate and be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Three Springs Fire Co. will be holding a chicken and waffles dinner on Sunday, November 15, beginning at 11 a.m.

The Ridge Runners Relay For Life Team would like to thank everyone for their contributions and attendance to the annual >basket bingo fundraiser.

Visiting with Steve, Karen, Terri and Tammy Grissinger this week were Donna Locke, Gary, Donna, Cassie and Caleigh Clark, June, Steve, Shane and Shawn Mills, Buzz and Bea Covert, Nora Grissinger, Tom and Mamie Streightiff, and Travis Madden.

Visiting with Steve Grissinger on Wednesday afternoon was Dan Jenakovich.

A Christmas bazaar will be held December 5 and 6 at the Shade Gap Ladies Auxiliary Building. Hours are >Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. >Gift wrapping will be done for a donation. Warm soups, sandwiches and beverages will be for sale. If you didn’t purchase gifts, but have some to wrap, just drop them off, get a bite to eat and have them wrapped while you wait. Interested vendors can contact Tami at 717-485-3968 before November 23. >Limited space is available, so please call early!

A fall ladies retreat is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the former Saltillo United Methodist Church. There will be music and speakers with lunch provided. Please call Pam at 814-448-2385 to reserve a spot.

Finally, the month and date has arrived, and I must hurry to get this in the newspaper before I am upended by some kind, considerate and foolish person. This month, Karen Grissinger will celebrate her big 50. That’s right, 50 down and hopefully 50 more as fantastic or better to go.
