Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes sponsored annually by Samaritan Purse, will be collected at My Father’s House Ministries, located at 1635 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, from Monday, November 16-23 during the following hours: Monday, Thursday and Saturday, 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, noon until 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, the boxes will be delivered to the collection center in Waynesboro. Evening Discussion McConnellsburg Middle/High School Student Assistance Team and Students Against Destructive Decisions present the third annual “You Think You Know ... But You Have No Idea,” an evening of discussion on the parents/guardians/caring adults of McConnellsburg Middle/High School students. It will be held Tuesday, November 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the high school. Topics include Drug & Alcohol 101 and Internet Safety and Awareness. PTSO Fundraiser Pickup McConnellsburg Elementary PTSO fundraiser will be delivered and must be picked up November 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All items will be downstairs in rooms 406 and 408. Items cannot be held (especially refrigerated items) overnight.

Dumpsite Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed to help remove an illegal dumpsite located on Frank Road, Thompson Township, in Fulton County, Saturday, November 7, at 9:00 a.m., rain or shine. Meet at the top of Frank Road. From McConnellsburg take U.S. 522 south to PA 655 south to the intersection of Frank and Diehl Road south of Needmore. From Hancock, take I-70 north to exit 168/U.S. 522 south to PA 484. Follow PA 484 east across I-70 until it runs into PA 655 north. Follow to intersection with Frank and Diehl Road south to Needmore. Used Book Drive Forbes Road field hockey teams are now accepting used books, magazines, movies, music and puzzles. Collection boxes have been placed in area businesses for these used items to be dropped off. The used book sale will take place in the Forbes Road cafeteria on Friday, December 4, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 5, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. In addition there will be a bake sale at those times.
