Gloria L. Kauffman
Gloria L. Kauffman, 52, Everett, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009.
She was born June 19, 1957, in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Ruby May (Guyton) Kauffman.
She is survived by two brothers: William Kauffman and wife Kay, Hustontown, and Robert Kauffman and wife Lynetta, Clearville; three aunts: Nellie Guyton and husband Chester, Hopewell; Jean Schooley and husband Allen, Bedford; Betty Riley and husband Glen, Chambersburg; two uncles: Ron Guyton and wife Ann, Hopewell, and Barney Guyton and wife Grace, Chambersburg; four nieces: Crystal, Amber, Brittany and Danielle; two nephews: William and Jonathan and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Everett and a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, Class of 1975. Previously she was employed as an emergency medical technician with the Mill Creek Fire Co., and after moving to Everett, worked at the Bedford Gazette as a newspaper carrier. She also worked as a writer for the Altoona Mirror, recording deeds, marriages and divorces for their city newspaper, and later worked as a store service provider for Newborn Enterprises. She then began her work at JLG Industries, where she worked in many different positions until retiring.
Known to her family and friends as a quiet and caring friend who would lend a hand to anyone she could, she enjoyed craft work and spending time as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and will be greatly missed.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m., at First Christian Church, Everett. Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3759 Business Route 220, Bedford, or to a charity of one’s choice.
