Annabelle N. Mowen

Annabelle Neoma Mowen, 73, Hagerstown, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at home.

Born June 23, 1936, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Earl Jacob Whitmore and Goldie Neoma Swope Whitmore.

She was a member of Broadfording Church of God of Hagerstown, where she served as nursery attendant and a deconess. She also attended Lanes Run Church of God.

She was a courier for 22 years with Home Federal Savings Bank and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Earl “Mike” Mowen, Hagerstown; two daughters: Cathy J. Gross, Clear Spring, and Bernice N. Zeigler, Boonsboro; six sons: Floyd L. Mowen, Warfordsburg; Earl C. Mowen, Hagerstown; Albert L. Mowen, Hancock; Steven W. Mowen, Williamsport; Lester D. Mowen, Hancock, and Leister E. Mowen, Clear Spring; one sister, Violet J. Bumgardner, Waynesboro; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a faithful friend, “Mac” the dog.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Mowen; and a brother, Paul J. Whitmore.

Services were held Friday, October 23, at 11:00 am., at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Clear Spring. Rev. Gene Renner officiated. Burial was made in Broadfording Memorial Garden Cemetery.
