Rev. Smith To Be Installed

Rev. Evan Smith Rev. Evan Smith Rev. Evan R. Smith will be installed as pastor of the Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, November 1.

Rev. Smith comes from Eden, N.C. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College, and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. In addition, he held a position as youth and education director in North Carolina, served in Christian Ministry at Custer State Park in South Dakota, and took a yearlong mission trip to Kenya, Africa.

Participants in the service will include members of the congregation and guests from other churches in the Carlisle Presbytery. Rev. Meagan Boozer, Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church; Rev. Donna Ryan, Lower Path Valley/Burnt Cabins Presbyterian Church; Rev. Dr. William H. Harter, retired from Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg; and Mr. Ed Myers, Elder at the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague in Mercersburg will be present.

Under the direction of Richard Rotz, music will be provided by the chancel choir and a brass quintet. Mrs. Carolyn Kerlin is organist.

The McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church extends an invitation to the community to join in this special occasion. The service will take place in the sanctuary of the church located at the corner of S. Second and Maple streets, on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 4 p.m. A reception will be held following the service in the church social hall.
