Harry Wenger, 88, The Village of Laurel Run, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the village.
He was born October 30, 1920, the son of Laban and S. Ruth (Hostetter) Wenger. He was married to Dorothy Hoover on July 31, 1941.
He was the co-owner of Wenger’s Bakery for many eyars and subsequently taught French and English at Forbes Road High School. He sang in the Happy Cousins Quartet for more than 40 years. He was an avid tennis player and fan. He bred and raised AKC registered German shepherd show dogs. He was well known for his eagerness to share his faith in the Lord and his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wenger; seven children: Ronald Wenger, Donna Summers, Robert Wenger, all of Chambersburg; Pamela Wenger Yanoviak, Selinsgrove, Pa.; Daryl Wenger, Fayetteville; Tony Wenger, Shippensburg; and Patricia Snyder, Gardners, Pa.; nine grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren and a sister, Lois Martin, Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laban and S. Ruth; and a brother, John.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., Chambersburg. Interment was made in Air Hill Cemetery. Rev. Lawton Jacobs and Rev. Harold Yeager officiated.
