Historical Society Announces Folk Festival Raffle Winners

The North End Garden Club decorated the back of the Fulton House with attractive fall arrangements for the annual Fulton Fall Folk Festival. Winners of the Fulton County Historical Society raffle were: Bruce Mentzer of Mercersburg for a night’s stay in the Carriage House at Crampton Manor Bed and Breakfast. Darlene Truax of Needmore won the watercolor of the round barn built in Todd Township in 1925. Historical Society member Geraldine Dorman of Newark, Del., received the set of eight holiday postcards mailed 100 years ago. Valerie Sprowl Taylor of Stephens City, Va., won the antique decorated cheese box. Mark Ashley of Austin, Minn., whose ancestors were John and Margaret Glass Stinson of Clear Ridge, won the 1936 Sesquicentennial booklet of McConnellsburg.

About 40 visitors participated in the society’s annual house tour and many more toured the Fulton House museum. The Buchanan program was well attended. Winegardner School was open for visitors. Many enjoyed the homemade beef barley soup served from the log kitchen.

The Historical Society would like to thank all the volunteers who helped with the weekend activities.
