Lindsay Berkstresser of Waterfall has been named the 2009 recipient of Patriot Federal Credit Union’s Richard E. Baumunk Memorial Scholarship award. Patriot has given one $2,500 scholarship annually since 1994. Selection for the PFCU award was based upon scholastic achievement, an essay score and an interview score of the top three finalists.
Berkstresser is also the recipient of one of two Franklin County Teachers’ Credit Union $2,500 awards and presented a speech to its board of directors and members at the annual meeting entitled “How To Develop A Plan To Provide Financial Security Upon Completion Of Your College Education.”
A junior, majoring in management, within the John L. Grove College of Business and Shippensburg University’s Honors Program, Berkstresser serves on the Honors Program Advisory Board and is active in The Society for Human Resource Man- agement. She is a project leader for Students in Free Enterprise and is currently co-organizing an ongoing educational project to benefit inner-city middle school students by teaching them fundamental economics and budget planning. She accepted the university’s full tuition offer and campus work study opportunity for business students with civic engagement.
Community State Bank of Orbisonia also presented a $1,000 scholarship to Lindsay in support of her academic achievement and pursuit of higher education in business.
She is a 2009 graduate of Forbes Road High School and the daughter of Dwayne and Betsy Northcraft.
