HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak raised $758,000 during the last quarter in his campaign for the 2010 Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate – less than half the amount attracted by incumbent Arlen Specter.

Sestak’s campaign said Thursday that it ended the three-month period through Sept. 30 with more than $4.7 million on hand.

Specter, a longtime Republican who switched parties in April, took in $1.8 million during the last quarter and had $8.7 million on hand. He had help from President Barack Obama, who attended a Sept. 15 fundraiser in Philadelphia that Specter’s campaign cohosted.

Sestak’s fundraising in the latest quarter also lagged that of former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey, the front-runner for the Republican nomination. Toomey has said he raised more than $1.5 million.
