Visiting over the weekend with Dane “Butch” and Gwen Seiders were their daughters, Dana and Dawn of the Philadelphia area.

The McConnellsburg Class of 1957 held its 52nd class reunion on Satudray night at Great Cove Golf Club. Thanks to Diana Bogle for preparing a delicious meal and her kindness.

Peter Morton of Florida visited over thew weekend with his aunt, Ruth Bolinger. They toured the Pistner-Morton house, which at one time belonged to Ruth’s grandfather, Peter Morton.

Rainy and snowy weather put a damper on the activities over the weekend. Winter weather came a little too soon.

Becca and Ike Hahn celebrated their 16th birthday on Saturday in the home of their grandparents, John and Karen Bishop, with family members and friends attending. Their birthday is October 18.

Country shortcuts: Prevent rice boil-overs. Cook rice in a tea kettle with a removable lid. The spout lets steam escape, so the water won’t boil over.

It happened this week: in 1892, the first long-distance telephone line between New York and Chicago was officially opened. (It could only handle one call at a time).

Visiting with Lee and Sharon Glazier over the weekend was their daughter, Tricia, and family of the Boston area.

Steve Mellott of Georgia spent the weekend with his aunt and uncle, Bill and Janet Geyer.

Public Opinion female student athlete of the week was Sam McQuade, a McConnellsburg senior. Sam is the Spartan’s soccer team goalkeeper. She is the daughter of Ellis and Jeannie McQuade.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Trent Black, Forbes Road soccer; and Lisa Deshong and A’Leese Dickerson, McConnellsburg volleyball.
