Freda M. Ellis
Freda Margaret (Brown) Willis, 84, Altoona, died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Maddensville, a daughter of the late Orris M. and Ida Ruth (Cramer) Brown. She married James E. Ellis III on November 10, 1945, in Chambersburg. He preceded her in death July 28, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy DiFolco, and husband Dennis, Hollidaysburg, and a son, Gregory Ellis, and wife Nancy, Altoona; four grandchildren: George DiFolco, James Ellis, Lori Shaner and Eileen Ellis; and two great-granddaughters: Alexandra and Zoe Ellis; sisters and brothers: Inez Barnett, Waterfall; Viola Pollock and Wilda Mills, both of Chambersburg; Janet Fraker, Fort Littleton; Nelson Brown of Burnt Cabins; and Russell Brown, Chambersburg.
She was preceded in death by brothers: Leo and Richard Brown and sisters: Geraldine Horne, Dorothy, Maxine and Audrey Brown.
She retired as a dietary aide from the former Mercy Hospital in Altoona and previously worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. She was a longtime member of Broad Avenue Methodist Church, Altoona.
She loved playing cards and gardening and teaching these loves to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Pastor John Collins officiated. Burial was made at the family’s convenience at the Old Methodist Cemetery, Maddensville.
