SF To Present “Willy Wonka”
If you want to view magic lands, close your eyes and you will see one – or simply come down to Southern Fulton High School on Friday October 23, or Saturday the 24, and watch the production of “Willy Wonka!”
The seventh- through 12thgrade students who have been working on this production since August invite everyone, young and old, to come for an evening of music and the telling of the classic story of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
The show time for both evenings is 7 p.m., but the doors will open for general admission at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from a cast member or at the door and prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Featured in this year’s musical are senior Billy Rebosky as Willy Wonka, senior Cody Murray as Grandpa Joe, seventh grader Noah Hykes as Charlie and a cast and crew of more than 35 students.
Other notable characters include: The Bucket Family members played by Gary Swope, Alyssa O’Neal, Hannah Williams, Kristin Caro and Lucas Stanley. The Golden Ticket holders and parents are played by Isaac Hartman and Kelsey White: Augustus and Mrs. Gloop, Carissa Gordon and Kaleigh Cook: Violet and Mrs. Beauguarde, Molly Deneen and William Taylor: Veruca and Mr. Salt, Noah Smartt and Emmaline Crouse: Mike and Mrs. Teavee.
Additional notable roles include TJ Gibbs as the Candy Man and Jeb Williams as Phineous Trout the reporter. With a supporting cast of cooks, candy kids and oompa loopmas, including: Brandon Wertz, Sara Carnahan, Alenda Fischer, Harley Mellott, Mariah Mellott, Timothy Mottern, Shanica Walker, Makayla Bowers, Breanne Shank, Tylar Smith, Sarah Spade, Kendra Hollenshead, Megan Williams, Amber Sanders, Rhonda Phillips and Courtney Caro, the production is filled with many students in their theatrical debut.
Guest actor teacher Cindy Layton rounds out the production, which promises to be an evening of laughs and familiar tunes.
The stage crew is a student run group and includes: Nick Smartt, Bailey Elbin, Sarah Anne Null, Kajin Bowers, Dakota Ritz, Shannon Kreps, Brandi Younker, Mercedes Ashley and Cazmarian Sullivan.
All scenery and props for “Willy Wonka” were designed and built by the students from SFHS’s drama class and 3-D art class.
This is the sixth theatrical production at Southern Fulton that has been directed by- Carolyn Mottern, the high school art teacher, and she has once again teamed up with vocal director Dan Meredith to create this magical musical.
The Southern Fulton School Board, administration, faculty and staff have been very supportive and instrumental in the production of the school’s productions and their efforts are very much appreciated.
