Man Dies After Falling Into Silo
HOWARD, Pa. (AP) _ A central Pennsylvania man died and another was rescued after falling inside a silo.
Fifty-five-year-old Charles Simons worked and lived on the farm near State College with his wife for more than 20 years.
Authorities say he fell from a ladder Tuesday inside the 120- foot tall silo. Simons was pronounced dead at the scene.
Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers on Wednesday said Simons got trapped in the chute of the silo. He says a cause of death is pending the results of toxicology and other medical tests which could take several weeks.
Fire crews were able to rescue a second man who was trapped inside and called for help on his cell phone.
State police say officials aren’t sure what caused the accident.
