Healthy Sportsman Presented With Gun At Health Fair

Fulton County Medical Center and McLaughlin’s Drug Store presented the healthy sportsman contest winner, Beverly Garland of Mercersburg, with a New England .243 caliber Handy- Rifle.The gun, purchased from Barnhart’s Sporting Goods, Harrison-ville, was the grand prize for the annual healthy Sportsman Health Fair.

The Healthy Sportsman Health Fair was held Sunday, September 27, at the FCMC’s new facility located at 214 Peach Orchard Road, Mc- Connellsburg. More than 240 men, women and children came out to evaluate their overall health, utilizing more than a dozen screenings provided by the FCMC and local healthcare providers Tri-State Community Health Center, Solutions Hearing, optometrist Joey Lane and the Allied Health students.

Also during the day, food donations were accepted by the Fulton County Food Basket and a total of 195 items and $85 in cash was received. Each donor received a free camouflage hat courtesy of FCMC and Jack Steele Family Dentistry.

Winners can pick up their items by calling Community Relations and Development Office at 717-485-6115 or stopping by the administrative offices located at 201 South Second Street, McConnellsburg, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A list of winners is printed elsewhere in this issue.

The following vendors provided displays and education for the community: Melaleuca Inc., Blue & Gray Relic Shop, DCNR, Fulton County Pistol and Gun Club, Guardian In- Home Services and Fulton County Food Basket. The Medical Center reminds sportsmen to mark their calendars for next year’s event held the last Sunday in September.
