Congratulations to Annette Bain Wilhams for completing the certified medical assistance program at Kaplan University. Annette graduated September 26 in Hagerstown, with family and friends attending. She is the daughter of Carl and Hulda Bain.

Mike and Michele Hill recently visited with their son, Matt, who is in ticket sales for the Columbus Crew pro soccer team in Ohio, along with his grandmother, Jane Lininger, and other relatives and friends and attended the soccer game between the Columbus Crew and the L.A. Galaxy team. The Columbus Crew won 2-0.

McConnellsburg St. Paul Lutheran Church congregation enjoyed listening to the music of “The Country Christians” on Sunday.

The descendants of the late Maurice and Frances Hoover held their annual family reunion on Sunday in St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Willing Workers prepared and served the meal. Mary Hoover and family attended along with relatives from York County.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Dillen Burger, Forbes Road soccer, and A’Leese Dickerson, McConnellsburg volleyball, and Dillan Hollenshead, McConnellsburg soccer.

Congratulations to Brock Huntsman of Huntingdon and Wendy Covert of Hustontown, who were married on Saturday, September 26, in Fairview Church.

Kay McGarvey and her mother, Ruth Souders, visited with Kay’s grandson, Zachary Blumenthal, who is a freshman at Susquehanna University on Sunday.

Three-year-old twins Ellie and Avrie Harr, daughters of Charlie and Dusty Harr, enjoyed a hayride with their parents and grandparents and other family relatives on Saturday night. Bill Hall of Burnt Cabins was the tractor driver.

Country shortcuts: The next time you mop your kitchen floor, use the trash can as the bucket to hold the suds. After you’re finished, rinse out the trash can and it will be as sparkling as the floor, with no extra effort on your part.

Lee and Sharon Glazier attended the wedding of Jason and Rebecca Burgas on Saturday in Richmond, Va. Rebecca is the granddaughter of Sharon’s sister, Cleo, and Jim Donahue. A special dance song was played for Cleo and Jim, whose 65th wedding anniversary was recently.

Some folks from town attended the Hustontown School alumni banquet on Saturday at Hustontown Firehall.
