McConnellsburg 2,

Forbes Road 1

McConnellsburg’s 2-1 victory was preserved Monday evening with some key defensive effort by goalkeeper Dillan Hollinshead. Hollinshead finished up the Sideling Hill League match with six saves, while the offense was led by Colby Sowers and Cody Christy. Forbes Road’s lone goal by Dakota DeShong was on an assist by Dillen Burger.

Fannett-Metal 7,

Southern Fulton 1

Fannett-Metal rolled over Southern Fulton easily, winning the Sideling Hill League game 7-1 Monday evening. Dylan Whiteside scored the only goal for the Indians, who have a season record of 1-6. Meanwhile, in goal, Tyler Trail rallied for 11 saves.

Forbes Road 1,

Northern Bedford 0

Forbes Road slipped a goal past undefeated Northern Bedford last Wednesday with only 20-minutes remaining on the game clock. Dillen Burger’s goal on an assist by Donovan Bricker evened out the Cardinals’ season record to 3-3. Goalie Tanner Henry made six saves for Forbes Road.

McConnellsburg 4,

Southern Fulton 3

McConnellsburg scored twice in the final four minutes of the September 16 game against Southern Fulton to prevail by the narrow score of 4-3. Josh Hill scored two goals, and Mason Bard added the final goal.

Southern Fulton 2, Chestnut Ridge 1

Mason Bard scored two goals for the Southern Fulton Indians last Wednesday during a 2-1 win over Chestnut Ridge. Goalkeeper Tim Mottern made nine saves in goal for the Indians.

Cross Country

Southern Fulton 24, Windber 47

The Southern Fulton crosscountry team defended their home course with a 24 - 47 victory over Windber. JC Munson led the Indian team, placing second. Teammates Jacob Ashkettle placed fourth, Zane Baker fifth, Brian Stanley sixth, Tim Rohm seventh, Zach Swope eighth, Luke Wright ninth and Zack Ziemba 11th. Meanwhile, the Lady Indians were led by Jenna Hollenshead in second place, who was followed by Lacey Beatty in third and Mariah Hill fifth.

Girls Soccer

McCbg. 3, St. Maria Goretti 0

McConnellsburg scored three unanswered goals Saturday to down St. Maria Goretti in nonleague action. Nikki McQuade led the Lady Spartans with two goals, and teammate Casey Pollock followed with one. Sarra Kendall added an assist, and goalie Sam McQuade had five saves in goal.

Everett 1, McConnellsburg 0

Everett eked out a one goal win over McConnellsburg, scoring 11 minutes into the opening half of the Sideling Hill League match. Goalkeeper for the Lady Spartans Sam McQuade tallied four saves in the game.

Chest. Ridge 1, McConnellsburg 0

In spite of recording more shots and penalty corners, Mc- Connellsburg fell to Chestnut Ridge Monday by the slim score of 1-0. Goalie Sam McQuade posted three saves for Lady Spartans.


Mount Union 337, Everett 349,

Northern Bedford 381,

Bellwood 412

Everett fell short against Mount Union but edged out rivals from Northern Bedford and Bellwood during the ICC Championship at Sinking Valley Country Club. Jesse Newman finished third overall in the match with a score of 82. Teammate Dylan Gelvin was among the top four scorers for the Warriors with an 87. Andrew King shot a 95.


McConnellsburg 3, Cumberland Valley Christian 0

McConnellsburg had three tight sets against Cumberland Valley Christian Monday and held on to preserve the 25-19, 25- 22 and 25-23 victories. Emily Watkins had an impressive game for the Lady Spartans with 20 kills and 13 digs, and A’Leese Dickerson added 19 kills, four blocks, 10 digs and five aces. Lisa DeShong handed out 34 assists, and Valerie Green totalled 11 digs.

Southern Fulton 3, Hancock 0

Southern Fulton picked up its first win of the 2009 fall season Monday evening with a 3-0 trouncing of Hancock, Md. Cierra Covalt had six kills and eight assists, and Alexis Knisley totalled one block, 17 service points and two aces. Jenna Ritz added two aces and nine assists.

McConnellsburg 3, NBC 1

Northern Bedford clinched the third match of last Tuesday’s event against McConnellsburg, who rallied in the following match for a 3-1 Sideling Hill League victory. A’Leese Dickerson recorded 15 kills, four block kills and 12 digs, while teammate Lisa DeShong handed our 23 assists and added 13 digs and three kills. Emily Watkins finished out the game with nine kills, two blocks and 11 digs.

Tussey 3, Southern Fulton 1

Jenna Ritz posted 18 services points, 10 assists and one ace during the Southern Fulton Indians 3-1 loss to the Tussey Mountain last Tuesday. Ritz was aided by Alexis Knisely and Steph Eiker, who totalled nine digs and four kills, respectively.

McConnellsburg 3, Tussey 0

McConnellsburg preserved its winning season record last Thursday downing Tussey Mountain 25-18, 25-13 and 25-21 in three consecutive games. In the Sideling Hill League match, A’Leese Dickerson had 15 kills, eight aces and five digs. Emily Watkins added eight kills and three digs, while Lisa DeShong contributed 25 assists and three digs. Valerie Green rounded out the day with 16 digs.

Everett 3, Southern Fulton 1

Southern Fulton picked up a win in game two, but the Everett Warriors dominated last Thursday’s match, clinching the Sideling Hill League game by the final score of 3-1. Steph Iker rallied for four kills, and Cierra Covalt handed out 10 assists. Ashley Sigel and Alexis Knisely finished with six digs and nine service points respectively.


Greencastle 2, Forbes Road 1

Greencastle-Antrim edged out the Forbes Road Lady Cardinals last Wednesday in overtime, winning the non-league match 2-1. Megan Keller scored for the Cardinals on an assist by teammate Kaili Hockensmith. Leah Summers recorded two blocked shots in goal.

Mercersburg Academy 5,

Forbes Road 2

Mercersburg Academy connected for three goals in the first half of last Tuesday’s non-league match and added two more following the halftime break to down Forbes Road 5-2. Kaili Hockensmith and Megan Keller both had goals for the Lady Cardinals, while Sammie Clippinger and Jess Gearhart each added an assist. Leah Summers, goalkeeper, posted 10 blocked shots.
