The Fulton County Cowboys tackle team faced off against the Mount Union Vikings in Huntingdon on Saturday. Esaiah Barnes and Chase Novak scored touchdowns in the second half, but the Vikings were still able to hold off the rally for a 34-19 victory. The loss drops the Cowboys to 1-4 on the season.
The Cowboys Blue flag team rode a three-game winning streak into Sunday’s matchup with Mount Union Gold at Lions Club Park, but they were unable to maintain the momentum. The Cowboys jumped out to an early lead, and led the majority of the game. Mount Union took the ball with under two minutes left in the game trailing 37-30 before driving for their final touchdown. A risky call for a two-point conversion worked in their favor, and Mount Union pulled out the 38- 37 nail-biting victory.
Mount Union White visited the Cowboys Silver flag team for the second game of the afternoon. The Silver boys could not generate enough offense to keep up with Mount Union, falling 31- 14. Grayson Hall scored a touchdown in the first half on a long pass from Reece Gearhart. Parker Gearhart corralled a Mount Union runner in the end zone for a safety in the second half, and Hall tacked on a late touchdown by returning an interception for a score. Both flag teams are in action this Sunday at Saltillo. Flag football returns to Fulton County on Sunday, October 11.
