Medical Center Auxiliary Meets
Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary met on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, in the activities room of the Medical Center. Seventeen members and Medical Center staff attended the meeting.
Several successful fundraisers were held during the summer months. Bruster’s ice cream coupon books, worth up to $45, were sold for $12 each. It is hoped to sell ice cream coupon books from local businesses next summer. A total of 320 Marianna hoagies and pizzas were sold during the sale in June. These are a great hit and easy sale, so it will likely be done again sometime.
During the summer, two workshops were held to make items for the craft sales to be held in the fall and for Christmas. On Wednesday, July 8, Betty Shelley worked with a group of members to create starfish Christmas ornaments. They are to be sold for $5. The uniqueness of each ornament will make it a special addition to a Christmas tree or a great gift for a friend. On Wednesday, August 5, Sally Cover worked with members to craft decorative lighted cubes. Although the auxiliary made some cubes in Christmas colors, others could decorate the home throughout the year. The price will be $15. Members are also busy making other craft items. They will again offer towel sets, hats, scrubbies and dish cloths. A workshop to make the popular lanyards is being planned.
A key agenda item for the meeting was planning for the Fulton Fall Folk Festival sale to be held on October 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offered will be homemade soups, sandwiches, drinks and desserts as well as many craft items.
The auxiliary will once again be the headline sponsor of the Women’s Health Fair scheduled at the Medical Center October 19-23. At the fair they will have a booth to share information about auxiliary activities and promote membership.
Members encourage Fulton County residents of all ages to join and be a part of the efforts to support the Fulton County Medical Center. An application can be found at http://www.fcmcpa. org/auxiliary.html or pick up a brochure in the lobby of the hospital.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 5, at 10 a.m., in the activities room. Planning will be done for the Fall Folk Festival food and craft sale at that meeting. The officers are Betty Shelley, president; Jean McLucas, vice president; Nancy Younker, recording secretary; Sarah Gordon, corresponding secretary; and Carol Mellott, treasurer. Elaine Armstrong is membership chair.
