Bull Runs Through Northern New Jersey City

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) – Police in New Jersey's third largest city managed to corral a 1,400- pound bull that escaped from a slaughterhouse Monday.

Chief John DeCando, spokesman for Paterson Police's animal control division, says the bull was being unloaded at ENA Met Packing Inc. when the animal broke loose and made a 10- block run.

Police tried to lasso the bull, but the animal dragged officers down the block.

Officers finally corralled the animal and DeCando was able to sedate it.

No one was injured and the bull was returned to the slaughterhouse.
