We got a little rain over the weekend, but we sure could use more. Fortunately, it wasn’t too bad for the Fix sale on Saturday. There was a nice group attending, but with two sales in the area it is hard to have a good attendance at both.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Brock Huntsman, who were married at Fairview United Methodist Church on Saturday. The bride is the former Wendy Covert.

The Hustontown and Forbes Road Alumni banquet will be held Saturday, October 3, at Hustontown Firehall. All reservations should be sent to Sarah Shaw.

Hustontown Area Vol. Fire Co. will sponsor shooting matches beginning Saturday, October 3, at 1:00 p.m. Also there will be a five-round youth shot after the regular shoot. For youth shoots the age limit is 16 years old and under. Youths must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Assorted meat prizes will be given. The volunteer firemen will appreciate all support given to them. So go out and try your skill or luck and support these firemen.

Household hint: Better than bread crumbs. Instead of using bread crumbs as a filler for meatloaf, burger or fish or vegetable patties, use a whole grain flaked cereal such as bran, rice or corn. You’ll find it more flavorgul and it’s more nutritious, too.
