Ruth B. Mellott
Ruth Bird Mellott, 92, formerly of Needmore, Pa., died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at her granddaughter's home in McConnellsburg.
Born in Bedford County, Pa., on January 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harry (Pharoah) and Edith (Defibaugh) Mellott.
She was the widow of Stanley B. Mellott, whom she married on August 25, 1933. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2005.
She was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore; the VFW Post #655 Ladies Auxillary; McConnellsburg, the Eagles Club, Harrisonville; the Sideling Hill Sportsman's Club, Harrisonville; and a life member of the Green Hill Sewing Club, Harrisonville.
She was employed at the UWanna Wash Frock Co. in Fort Loudon, Pa. for 43 years.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph Mellott, Needmore and Marvin Mellott, Williamsburg, Pa.; two daughters, Susan (Ruth) Bottenfield, Needmore and Edith Barnett Rhodes, St. Thomas, Pa.
She is also survived by a sister, Jessie Jarrett, New Enterprise, Pa.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dean Mellott, an infant son, Clifford Mellott, an infant daughter, Phyllis Mellott, 10 sisters, two brothers, grandson Charles Mellott, granddaughter, Carol Barnett and two great grandsons, Randy and Justin Mellott.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa., with Rev. William Swope officiating.
Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, Pa.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2009, from 2-8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
