William E. King Jr.
William Earl King Jr., 73, Windber, Pa., died Monday, September 14, 2009, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.
He was born in Waterfall, April 30, 1936, the son of the late William Earl King Sr. and Zola Maude (Barnett) Kng. He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Gohn) King, whom he married August 3, 2006.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 561 of Mc- Connellsburg, the Moose in Bedford, the Bedford Possi, the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Range, the Bedford Sports Club, the Casselman Valley Sportsman's Club in Grantsville, Pa., and the Dosi Do Square Dance Club in Everett and Bedford Swingers Square Dancing Club.
His hobbies were woodworking and trapshooting.
He was a foreman for the Pennsylvania Turnpike upon retiring in 1991 and was PFC in the National Guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Vicki Souders, Chambersburg; Melanie King Cutchall, Harrisonville; Priscilla King, Rawlings, Md.; Renee King Colledge, New Enterprise, Pa.; Christy King Castel, Portage, Pa., and Jessica Fisher, Johnstown; sons: Roger King Sr., Northeast, Md.; Lance King, Mc- Connellsburg; Ernest King, Rising Sun, Md.; and Thomas King, McConnellsburg; stepchildren: Joshua Slifco, Cumberland, Md.; Timothy Slifco, Christina Slifco, Naomi Slifco and Sara Slifco, all of Windber; sisters: Evelyn King Lester, McConnellsburg; Hilda King, Waterfall; Mary King Sheehan, Enola, Pa., and Naomi King Roberts, Waterfall; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha King Ulsh.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Mt. Tabor Nazarene Church, Waterfall. Pastor Adam Kravets officiated. Burial was made in Mt. Tabor Nazarene Cemetery.
Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, was in charge of arrangements. Military services were conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
