Brian and Erin Shafer observed their sixth wedding anniversary on September 20.

The class of 1959 of Mc- Connellsburg High School held its 50th reunion on Saturday night in McConnellsburg Lutheran Church. It was served by the Willing Workers. More than 40 attended.

Sympathy goes out to the families of Alma Decker Shives and Ronald B. Buterbaugh, who passed away last week.

Some folks from the county enjoyed a bus trip to Atlantic City on Saturday.

Ella Lucille Pistner, daughter of Brent and Erin Peck Pistner, had her first birthday on September 23.

A belated congratulations to Brian and Stacey Peck Bell, formerly of here and now living in Everett, on the birth of their second son, Nolan Robert, born in Hanover on July 2. His older brother is Dillen.

It happened this week: "Hi Yo Silver!" The Lone Ranger premiered on TV in 1949 and ran until September 12, 1957. He reportedly will ride again in 2012, in an updated Disney big screen feature about the masked hero and his faithful friend "Tonto."

Country shortcuts: It's easy for thin or small items like measuring spoons or skewers to fall through the slots in the dishwasher silverware basket. To keep them in place, simply stuff a nylon pot scrubber into the bottom of the cutlery container.

Guy and Wanda Truax and Grant and Evelyn Souders, along with other relatives, attended the 18th birthday party of their granddaughter, Liz, daughter of Rodney and Stacy Truax, in Berkeley Springs, on Saturday.

Mark Weller, Denny Pollock, Bill Yocum and Tim McGarvey attended the Penn State football game on Saturday.
