Twenty area youths falling between the ages of 10 and 16 took the opportunity to learn about the great outdoors, hunting safety and conservation Saturday during the 10th annual Youth Field Day organized by Fulton County Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer Andy Carbaugh. Round-robin stations offered at the Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club included muzzleloaders and .22 target shooting, clay pigeon shoot, archery, turkey hunting and safety, bird dog demonstrations, ATV safety, outdoor photography and water safety. Youth Field Day was initially created in 1991 in Venango County by Robert "Mac" MacWilliams, a former Pennsylvania Game Commission Information and Education supervisor, who envisioned reversing the decline of youth involvement in the outdoors through exposure to hands-on activities.
