Alma G. Shives, 71, Harrisonville, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Penn Knoll Village, Everett.

She was born in Harrisonville, May 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Edward I. and Hazel Madeline (Brown) Decker. She was the widow of David Wallace Shives whom she married on July 6, 1970.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the church's ladies auxiliary, Harrisonville. She was a union steward of the Almagamated Clothing Workers Union and was a retired seamstress from the Mc- Connellsburg Sewing Factory.

She is survived by a son, Dave W. Shives Jr., Martinsburg, W.Va.; daughters: Angela R. (wife of Brian D.) Stouder, Chambersburg; Shawnee S. DeShong, Harrisonville; Amy D. (wife of David B.) Bolinger, Harrisonville; brothers: Larry Decker, Chambersburg; Archie Decker, Harrisonville; grandchildren: Chelsey R. DeShong, Bon Scott Elliott, Jordan D. Bolinger, Matthew D. Stouder, Samantha D. Stouder and BreAnna R. Stouder.

Funeral services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 17. Pastor William Bair will officiate. Interment will be made in Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville.

There will be visitation on Wednesday, September 16, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Mc- Connellsburg. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
