In anticipation of the quickly approaching grand opening of the renovated Fulton County Library, several representatives of the Fulton County Quilt Club presented the library with a specially designed and sewn quilt Monday afternoon representing both a year of hard work and love by members.

Currently on display on the first floor of the new three-level facility, the quilt was pieced together over the duration of a year, with individual members spending much time on their own deliberating over materials and color schemes. The end result of the club's dedication is a beautiful quilt, which remains on display through the grand opening on Saturday, September 26, and the Fulton Fall Folk Festival scheduled for October 16-18.

The area quilters and library Executive Director Jamie Brambley are hoping the quilt will be one of the focal points that residents are drawn to during the upcoming grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include special speakers, a ribbon- cutting by the county Chamber of Commerce and tours of the facility that was renovated in part by a $500,000 Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund Grant.

Silent bids, however, are already being accepted at the library for the quilt with proceeds to be used for the purchase of new computers. Bids can be made at the library during regular business hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-6; Tuesday and Thursday, 9-8; and Saturday, 9-4.
