Sharon Horne had shoulder surgery on Wednesday and is recovering at home.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Edwin and Helen Greenland on the loss of their daughter, Debbie Greenland of Florida.

Last Friday evening, Fred and Sharon Horne hosted a luau picnic and celebrated family birthdays. Folks who recently had birthdays were Cameryn Horne, Mindy Horne, Buzz Covert, Andy, Tasha and Kean Goshorn, Fred and Sharon Horne, and Angie Roher. Also enjoying the picnic were Travis Madden, Shaine Goshorn, Bea Covert and Devin Horne. The group enjoyed a campfire and making s'mores.

On Sunday, Shirley Barnett Johnson of Fort Loudon hosted a family picnic for the family of Orris and Ruth Brown of Maddensville.

Congratulations to Bobbi Jo Fleming, daughter of Fred and Sue Fleming, and Scott Shoop on their exchange of vows on Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. Their anniversary date and time will read 9-09-09 at 9 p.m.

Gordon, Donna, Toryn, Cameron and Braydon Locke enjoyed a fun-filled day at Del- Grosso Park for Youthfest on Sunday. Also enjoying the festivities and Christian Rock music were Nin Hiles, Mike and Samantha Hiles, Dodie and Steff Price, Danny Shoop and Ruth Grissinger. John and Carol Puskarich, Nicole and Lia Newcombe also were seen at the park, with Lia performing her first carnival ride display. Congratulations to Donna, who once again won a DelGrosso gift package.

Dorina Varner and "Coop" hosted a holiday cookout for Boyd, Audrey, Todd and Colby Varner and Tammy, Jayla, Clay, Jenny and Cole Cantrell.

There will be a free worship gathering at the Agape farm stage area on Saturday, September 26, from 3 to7 p.m. Please bring a covered dish and lawn chair to enjoy music, food, laughter, love and fellowship in our Lord. Kenny and Kristi Watkins attended the Toby Keith/Trace Atkins concert in State College on Saturday.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will be hosting an open stage event on September 26 beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m.

Big bingo will be held at the firehall on Sunday, September 27, beginning at 1 p.m. The doors and kitchen will open at 11 a.m.

Grace United Methodist Church of Three Springs is hosting a gospel sing/bean soup event on Sunday, September 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Aughwick Band will be performing with proceeds going to the Grace UMC Children's Outreach Ministry.

Three Springs Volunteer Fire Co. will be serving a chicken barbecue on September 20 beginning at 11 a.m.

Clear Ridge ladies and gents will be hosting a festival on September 17 beginning at 4 p.m. A pie and soup sale is scheduled for October 29.
