The descendants of the late Harold and Irene Hall held their annual family reunion at the Lions Club Park on Saturday.

The Joint Parish picnic of the Lutheran Church of Mc- Connellsburg, Big Cove Tannery and Mt. Zion was held on Sunday at Warren Township Municipal Grounds hosted by Mt. Zion. A delicious, catered meal was served and entertainment was by "Harmony Road," a bluegrass gospel group from Hagerstown.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Madeline Humbert, who passed away last Thursday. Also to the families of Martha Mowen and Alvin Swope, who passed away last week.

Toby, Dena, Tessa and Hannah McGarvey, Zachary and Justin Strait, Roger Sowers,Mike Hill, Derrick Peck, Evan Mellott and Chad Lininger attended the NASCAR race on Saturday night at Richmond, Va.

Harold and Betty Hershey observed their 61st wedding anniversary on September 18.

Ted and Kellie Gress observed their fifth wedding anniversary on September 18.

Misty Johnson's two sons were omitted in last week's column of Our Town. My apologies.

The North End Garden Club recently saw the play "Ring of Fire" at Allenberry Playhouse in Mt. Holly Springs. There were 13 who enjoyed the trip.

It happened this week: The first Miss America, Margaret Gorman, of Washington, D.C., was crowned in Atlantic City, N.J., in 1921. In 1954 the pageant was televised for the first time.

Country shortcut: Turn a stale-smelling car into a fresh, inviting ride by slipping used dryer sheets underneath the front seats.

Jane Koehler spent a month visiting with her sons, Jimmy and family of New Hampshire and Billy and family of New York. She saw her 8-month-old greatgrandson for the first time. The family held their family reunion at Billy's in New York, which lasted four days.

Birthday wishes to Lois Mc- Gowan on September 21. Lois was a long-time waitress at the former Pleasant Valley restaurant.

The descendants of Virgil and Margaret Pittman held their annual family reunion on Sunday at the VFW picnic grounds.

Prayers go out to 15-year-old Matthew Harr, who had a farm accident on Saturday, injuring his shoulder. He will have surgery in Hershey this week. Cards may be sent to 954 West Dutch Corner Road, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.

Jessie Dean, formerly of Needmore, returned on Saturday to Togo, West Africa, where she will spend a year instructing teachers. This visit to Togo is Jessie's fourth year-long teaching stint there. In the past, Jessie has worked with children.

Lt. Col. Curtis Hill and his wife, Lauren, rode their Harley- Davidson up from Camp Lejeune, N.C., during his two-week leave from Iraq. On their trip they stopped in Needmore to visit Curtis' parents, Herman and Verla, as well as his brother, Chris, and his family. Curtis and Lauren, along with his parents, flew up to Boston, Mass., to take in three Red Sox games. They also visited his grandmother, Mary McKee of Warfordsburg, who will be 91 on November 29. Curtis left on September 7 to return to Iraq.
