Tom Henry recently had surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Congratulations to Kris and Shelly Kelly on the birth of their son on Friday, September 4. He made his debut at 12:21 a.m., weighing in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measuring 20 1/4 inches long. Big sister Morghann will be happy to have a playmate.

Lydia Souders was home last weekend from North Carolina to visit with parents, Mike and Teresa Souders. Lydia's friend, Joe McNeely from Texas, who is also a travel nurse in N.C., visited Maddensville for the first time and really liked it.

Lydia and Joe visited with Wayne and Mary Mort, Buck Mills and also attended the gathering at the Wible reunion grounds on Saturday evening, where her brother, Ben and "The Aughwick Band" were performing. On Sunday evening, they celebrated Mike Souders' and Joe Myers' birthdays at the home of Joe and Melanie Myers.

On Monday, Mike and Teresa Souders and Joe McNeely traveled to Old Bedford Village and Gravity Hill.

A birthday celebration with cake and homemade ice cream was held at the home of Gordon and Donna Locke on Sunday for Adam Locke, James Locke and Irene Park. Guests included Amanda, Toryn, Cameron and Braydon Locke, Dave, Linda, Matt, Crystal, D. J. and Abby Schauf, and Ruth Grissinger. The kids enjoyed a late summer dip in the pool.

Brayden Locke, Aaron Snyder and Cole Cantrell enjoyed their first day of school - if they only knew how many years there are to go!

Last Tuesday, Kaydince Rae Whitsel and her mom, Destinie Ramsey, visited with Donna and Justin Locke on her way to her first baby visit with Dr. Milroth.

Visiting this week with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Tom Streightiff, Travis Madden and Mike and Michael Snyder.

Shade Gap Area Fire Co. Auxiliary will be hosting "the ultimate bingo" on September 13 at the auxiliary building. All proceeds benefit the Shade Gap Auxiliary freezer/ cooler drive.

Three Springs Volunteer Fire Co. will be serving a chicken barbecue on September 20 beginning at 11 a.m.

The Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will be having a food auction on Friday, September 11, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Frozen food, snacks and miscellaneous will be available.

Clear Ridge ladies and gents will be hosting a festival on Sept 17 beginning at 4 p.m. A pie and soup sale is scheduled for October 29.
